SavATree is pleased to announce its new sponsorship with the American Platform Tennis Association (APTA).
For those who are unfamiliar with platform tennis (also known as paddle tennis), it was developed in 1928 by Cogswell and Fessenden of Scarsdale, New York. These two gentlemen were primarily interested in a racquet sport that could be played outdoors throughout the winter.
There is an amusing story behind the original platform, in that it was constructed around the parameters of Cogswell’s property, including a steep slope and a large rock. To corral the balls that tended to go out of play, fencing was added and eventually incorporated into the game such that balls can be played off the wall and remain in play.
