The US EPA, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Chesapeake Bay Trust recently partnered to provide $3.7 million in grants to 34 organizations through the Green Streets, Green Towns, Green Jobs Initiative (G3).
The purpose of the G3 grant program is to help add green space and reduce stormwater runoff by using green infrastructure practices that increase tree canopy, capture and filter runoff, and remove impervious surfaces.
We in the Baltimore Urban Waters Partnership are particularly pleased as nine applications from Baltimore City are receiving over $1.4 million under the program, over 38% of available funds.
A list of awardees from Baltimore City and across the state can be found here. We look forward to working with them to create a greener, more sustainable Baltimore.
