Arborists Provide Environmental Tree, Lawn and Shrub Care Education on National Level in Boston MA

Boston, MA—May 28, 2007—The National Garden Clubs (NGC), Inc. along with The Garden Club Federation (GCF) of Massachusetts, Inc. held its 78th Annual Garden Convention at the Marriott Hotel-Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, May 23 through Sunday, May 27. Attendees including gardeners from all over the country and surrounding areas including Brookline MA, Chestnut Hill MA and Newton Center MA came to enjoy the festivities. A variety of horticultural, arboricultural, and garden professionals hosted informative sessions including sculptural design, garden photography and global environmental concerns. SavATree representatives from Westchester NY, Beverly MA, Lincoln MA, Wyckoff NJ and Cape Cod MA were in attendance to educate participants on environmentally sensible organic tree, lawn and shrub care.

Attendees who visited the SavATree booth received information on topics like ‘why do some lawns fare well and others struggle?’ The team of experts addressed critical steps to achieve and maintain a beautiful organic lawn. Other questions fielded also included SavATree’s adherence to Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) and their campaign for organic farming practices as well as compliance with the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). Attendees were delighted to learn SavATree and SavaLawn only use OMRI listed materials and ingredients allowed by NOFA.

Deval L. Patrick, Massachusetts Governor and garden enthusiast, was excited about hosting the annual convention. “Since its establishment, the National Garden Club has brought gardeners from around the country together to share information and tricks of the trade. The NGC also encourages its members to recognize their environmental responsibility to their community and advocate for the positive good of gardening in the United States and beyond.”

Luann O’Brien, SavATree Vice President, hosted the organic tree, lawn and shrub display, located in the educational isle of the show, and said “Our participation was a perfect compliment to the horticultural theme.” Over 1,200 attendees were treated to a variety of vendors and gardenesque workshops including Garden in the Woods and Gardening in the 21st Century. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist Brian Brunsch, from the Wyckoff branch, was chosen to present a question and answer lecture on plant health care to the New Jersey Garden Club.

SavATree also had small gifts for all attendees including ArborKelp®, their patented biostimulant fertilizer that promotes root growth and heightens stress tolerance in plants. This organic compound improves soil structure and augments soil microbial activity which is essential for nutrient absorption by plant roots. Visitors were also treated to a complimentary copy of Timely Tips, a bi-annual SavATree newsletter which includes gardening tips, a landscape care calendar, tree reflections, a feature shrub sections and fun games for children.
