Proper planting is the foundation to strong healthy plants. So many issues can be avoided if the tree is planted at the appropriate height, and as much of the twine and burlap and cage is removed as possible. Poor planting can be rectified through airspade investigation and intervention afterwards, but sometimes the damage is already done.
