It is amazing what you can learn from simply listening to the customer and asking the right questions. The other day I met with a potential client to look over a very large Red Oak tree that he perceived is having a problem. He said that two other tree care companies had looked it over and one said “just leave it alone” and did not even give a diagnosis. The other company completely mis-diagnosed the problem and recommended treating it for insects when in fact it was a bacterial infection (bacterial wetwood). I was the third arborist to meet with him and after some further questions and diagnosis, I came up with a sound plan to take care of the problem, prune the tree and fertilize it in the fall. He said I was by far the most knowledgeable of the three arborists and that he would go with our recommendations. I told him that I will come back in one year to inspect the condition of the tree ( at no charge) and he was sincerely thankful we would do that.
What really makes my job rewarding is being able to help someone with a tree problem, properly diagnose it and offer a solution to save the tree. It is great to work for a company (Savatree) that challenges us to be the best in the industry so that we can give our clients the best in tree care services.
