I recently visited a client and noticed that his maple looked like a pole running into the ground and had no protection from the mowers. I recommended an air spade allowing us to expose the root flare and cut any girdling roots. Cutting the girdling roots will prevent the tree from strangling itself in the future. Additionally, we created a mulch ring to protect the tree from the weed eaters and maintain soil moisture. It will also regulate soil temperature, aerate the soil to allow roots to grow out away from the tree, and relieve abiotic and biotic stressors. The customer and tree are both very happy with the results!
