SavATree is a proud supporting partner for the fun and fundraising STIHL Tour des Trees — a week-long, 500 to 600-mile (rain or shine!) cycling tour. This Sunday, July 30th, cyclists will saddle up at National Harbor, Maryland to kick off the Tour’s 25th Anniversary event.
Each of the full-Tour riders commits to raising a minimum of $3500, with 100% of those donations going to TREE Fund (Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund.) TREE Fund works to sustain the world’s urban forests by providing funding for scientific research, education programs and scholarships related to arboriculture and urban forestry.
Starting from National Harbor, just south of Washington, D.C., this year’s cyclists will ride through Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. on a mix of urban trails, city streets, and country roads. This 2017 Silver Anniversary Tour des Trees features a new route design – a series of looped routes originating from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Annual International Conference that’s also taking place at National Harbor. The riders’ daily cycling adventures will include stops at unique and interesting attractions, historic sites, and “green”-related events (including the 2017 International Tree Climbing World Championship at the National Arboretum in D.C.!)
