Effective Weed Control: Prevention and Treatment
Based on the conditions on your property and your preferences, your SavATree arborist will recommend a customized and holistic plan to prevent and treat weeds on your property.
Pre-emergent Weed Control
Pre-emergent weed control management aims to prevent young seedlings from sprouting up in your lawn at the start of the season. Our lawn care specialists use carefully timed treatments, before germination, to prevent weeds without injuring your established turf. Pre-emergent treatments are effective on most grassy summer weeds, including crabgrass and foxtail, as well as a few broadleaf weeds, such as dandelions and chickweed.
Post-emergent Weed Control
Post-emergent weed control uses targeted spot applications to address the weeds already growing in your lawn. Post-emergent control is typically used on invading broadleaf weeds, such as clover, violets and spurge.
Your SavATree specialist may combine pre- and post-emergent treatments to provide maximum weed control in your lawn.
Cultivating a Healthy, Weed-Resistant Turf
A healthy, resilient lawn is the best long-term strategy for weed control. To help you develop turf that is naturally more competitive against weeds, disease, and insects, your arborist can recommend a lawn care program that uses specially formulated nutrients and slow-release fertilizers tailored to the needs of your property.
