TREE HUGGER CORNER
Did You Know?
Originating from a small group of islands in the Indian Ocean knows as the Socotra Archipelago, the Dragon’s Blood tree (Dracaena Cinnabari) is rare and very unique. The canopies of mature Dragon Trees form a distinctive, umbrella-shaped crown that helps limit evaporation; useful given the dry, mountain top conditions that it’s known to grow in. It’s thought to have gotten its name from the red sap found inside the trees. This sap is highly sought after and has been used to treat maladies ranging from bad breath to ulcers.
