Meet Ryan Metz

Consulting Arborist at SavATree

ISA Certified ArboristTerritory and Services:

Ryan operates out of SavATree’s Basking Ridge, New Jersey branch and works district wide in PANJ as a consulting arborist. Areas of expertise offered by Ryan includes Urban forestry and ecology, tree planting operations and plans, tree management plans, inventories and inspections, permitting and plan review, project management, contract writing, tree protection, and tree care training.

Qualifications:

Urban forestry and ecology with an emphasis on project management, tree planting, and project design. Oversaw the planting of over 10,000 street trees in NJ and NYC. Some experience in green corridor planning and wildlife surveys.

Education:

Ryan earned his BSc in Natural Resources Management and Applied Ecology from Rutgers University New Brunswick and his MSc in Land Reclamation and Restoration from Cranfield University in England.

Why He Became An Arborist:

“I actually did not intend on becoming an arborist, I was originally going to college to be a wildlife biologist. My first job as an urban forester partially fulfilled requirements for my BSc. I found however that I really enjoyed the work, so I continued to pursue a career in arboriculture.”

Ryan has lived overseas in both England and France.
