Tree Pruning Experts Protect Residents Against Storm Damage in Princeton NJ
Princeton, NJ —December 2, 2003—Many area residents felt the effects of the heavy wind storms in November. The high gusts caused power outages, broken tree limbs and many trees to fall. The urgent need for property damage assessment and clean-up was evident and in numerous cases could have been avoided.
A healthy tree is able to move in the wind, which is exactly what prevents it from breaking apart during a storm. But even the healthiest trees are susceptible to wind injury. A thorough and regular evaluations of a property by an Arborist or additionally trained, Certified Tree Expert will evaluate the condition of shrubs and trees on a property, make a diagnosis and recommend a course of action.
Daniel Sieja, Certified Tree Expert with SavATree states, “trees that are not structurally sound (trees with included bark or decay) are more likely to experience structural failure. When identified in time, these deficiencies can often be prevented through the installation of artificial supports such as cabling and bracing or by a procedure known as hazard reduction pruning.” The goal is to make sure trees are properly cared for and not a risk to people or homes before the storm hits.
The New Jersey Board of Tree Experts encourages the use of Certified Tree Experts when expertise regarding trees is needed. A NJ Certified Tree Expert is proficient in the science of diagnosing, treating and preventing tree injuries. They are required to pass a two-part exam: a written section and field section. Subject matter includes tree identification, tree physiology, tree planting, soil characteristics, general tree maintenance, structural repairs, tree pruning and physical injury to trees. NJ Certified Tree Experts must also demonstrate the highest professional, ethical and moral standards in the practice of tree care. Daniel adds, “Now is the time to also protect trees and shrubs from the effect of snow and ice.
