Greenwich CT Arborist Teams with Junior League in Annual Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser
Greenwich, CT—SavATree arborists and one of their bucket trucks were featured in the Junior League’s Touch-A-Truck festival in Greenwich, CT. The fund-raising event included vehicles from various fields such as a fire truck, construction truck, and story bus. Children from towns throughout Fairfield County were able to climb in and around the trucks as they learned about them.
Greenwich CT arborists Matt Walters and Greg Huse were in attendance as well as the driver Henry Fields. Fields explained how the truck is used and also why it requires a special license to operate. Walters said, “We take every opportunity we can to involve kids and their parents with green living and awareness. It’s important to keep involved in the community, and we look forward to events like this one.”
SavATree focuses on environmentally sensitive, non-intrusive methods to care for plant life. The company has a history of community service in Greenwich CT and involvement that encourages environmental awareness. In addition to the supervised access to the bucket truck, children were given "go green" t-shirts. SavATree Office Manager Jacqlyn Shelomis said, “We try to make every aspect of our business consistent with our respect for the environment by embracing healthy landscape care. We know that we are passing on our world to the next generation like all these kids, I think it’s important to make sure it’s in as good a condition as possible.”
Parents were included too. SavATree gave away a gift basket full of green-focused books, all natural ArborKelp® fertilizer, mugs, and 100% recycled pens. They also handed out information about making green choices in landscape care. Huse said, “Part of this event is just letting people know how regular tree trimming, proper fertilization management and expert lawn care can protect the beauty and value of a landscape.”
The Junior League of Greenwich is a community organization aimed at encouraging volunteerism and community participation.
