More than twenty-five members of SavATree’s management team came together to donate their expertise and help care for the landscape at The Woodlands in Philadelphia. A National Historic Landmark District, the property contains numerous rare, historic and champion trees. Primary objectives of the company’s annual Volunteer Day were focused on public safety, particularly along the popular running path where pruning and cabling served to reduce potential hazards. Additional ornamental pruning and crown cleaning were performed for health and aesthetic reasons. A highlight for the SavATree team was viewing and learning about a magnificent Causcasian zelkova, an extremely rare specimen believed to be a descendent of a tree planted in the 1700’s by William Hamilton, original owner of The Woodlands.
