Arborists / NJ Tree Foundation Work Together To Beautify Local Neighborhood
East Brunswick, NJ—Arborists joined the New Jersey Tree Foundation (NJTF) and the New Jersey Youth Corps at the Heavenly Farms Community Center in East Brunswick, NJ in Middlesex county to help plant nearly two hundred trees for this year’s Arbor Day. The NJTF’s goal is to promote, enhance and develop urban and community forestry activities in New Jersey.
Five arborists from SavATree’s Princeton and Mountainside branches, Tom Armstrong, Gerry McKitty, Jesse Shelton, Dan Sieja and Steve Schilling, dedicated their expertise to help the youth corps members place and plant trees. The New Jersey Youth Corps is a state program meant to help young people earn their General Education Diploma (GED) while simultaneously acquiring important skills and knowledge. SavATree Certified Arborist, Tom Armstrong said, “It was really a pleasure to come out here today and help with the event. The area already looks so much better and I know the kids learned a lot about tree care. It was a great day.”
There were over three hundred and twenty five volunteers at the event, including a local Girl Scout troop and other community organizations. Over fifteen different species of trees were planted including many different types of oak, maple, elm and fir, among others. The NJTF hoped that the number and diversity of trees would increase the educational value for their students.
