“I became an arborist because I love being outside.”
“The customer and their property come first. I look at their property as if it is my own.”
“I have known Steve Schilling for many years. As soon as he took over our account I knew that he would always cheerfully seek to understand our issues/problems. He has always demonstrated a broad knowledge base which he readily shares with us. Steve truly cares about our property. I have never felt that he was just trying to sell us services. Rather, he takes pride in supporting us in caring for our property. Over the last number of years we have suffered considerably from storm damage. We lost many trees as a result of the microburst. Steve immediately responded to our plea for help. He orchestrated our clean-up flawlessly, always keeping us up to date on when services would be completed. If there was a change necessitated, he always let us know and explained why. This past spring during a severe wind and rain storm a huge old oak whose canopy spread over our whole house was compromised – leaning precariously toward our home. In the morning I did not even need to call Steve. He was already in front of my house concerned that we might have had a problem with this huge old tree. He then flawlessly executed the tree’s safe removal – first bringing in a bucket truck to try and lighten the canopy and tying the tree off to many of our neighbor’s trees. Then finally he arranged for a crane to come and safely remove the tree. Throughout Steve demonstrated a deep concern for our safety, our home and his team. This situation could have easily resulted in loss of life and our home being crushed. We are forever grateful that Steve was on hand.
As a result of Steve’s knowledge and manner of conducting business, I can assure you we will always be loyal customers and I will continue (as I have done on numerous occasions) to recommend SavATree, in particular Steve, to my friends, neighbors and clients!
Your company is fortunate to have such a valuable employee.”

“I used to believe that all “tree” companies were just about the same. But for several years now, my husband and I have entrusted our trees to SavATree and its personable and capable arborist, Steve Schilling. We have always been satisfied, but never more so than during the freak October snowstorm when all of our trees — but particularly our two giant sycamores — lost seemingly countless and rather massive branches. Indeed, on the afternoon the storm raged, we were without power, had a large branch weighing down the telephone line to our house, and had so many heavy branches in our driveway that we were marooned. In this extremis, I called Steve; and he and a crew were at our house the very next morning to clear our drive and remove the branch from our line. It was an enormous relief! A few weeks later, we had a wonderful crew from Virginia who did expert, salvage pruning on our sycamores, thereby insuring that we would not lose these magnificent trees altogether. They also removed countless “hangers” that posed quite a danger.
In short, we have nothing but the highest praise for the care and attention we and our trees received.”

“I just wanted to thank you and the SavATree crew again for the fine, professional job you did yesterday in removing the tree from in front of my house. I’ll never forget your caring advice through the years regarding the nurturing of that magnificent old oak and the kind sensitivity you showed when I made the sad decision to finally take it down. Best to you and everyone at SavATree.”

“The freak snowstorm last October caused a huge limb to snap off of an 80 foot oak tree. The limb hit our main roof, slid down onto our back porch roof ripping off the gutters and landed upright leaning against our back porch. We were fortunate as the actual damage could have been more severe. Our town looked like a war zone with fallen timber everywhere. We called Steve Schilling — as did hundreds of others in the area. Steve was prepared and was somehow able to triage our work into his overall plan. He personally surveyed the damage, arranged for his team to get the fallen limb off the roof and away from the house, Steve and his team returned a few days later to remove the debris and the hazardous broken limbs dangling from our trees. Despite the fact that the volume of work was exhausting, SavATree’s work was prompt, courteous and professional. We could not have asked for better or more responsive service from Steve Schilling and his team. Many thanks for a job well done!”

“I am compelled to write to you to recognize the exceptional performance of your SavATree crew during the so-called Halloween Blizzard. The storm hit on Saturday October 29th and we awoke Sunday morning to no heat, no power and trees/bnranches down all over our property. The top of one of our cedar trees had snapped off completely and was protruding throiugh the top of our backyard greenhouse. However, our biggest problem was an 80 ft (32” diameter) oak tree that had fallen across the drive way on top of my wife’s Lexus and blocking my car in the garage. We were trapped. I called the Essex Fells Police who arrived promptly to assure there were no live wires in the area and to take pictures for insurance purposes but they advised that Public Works was totally pre-empted with clearing roads and there was nothing they could do to help. At 9:30 AM I called Steve Schilling of SavATree on his cellphone and to my astonishment he answered. I described our circumstance hoping they could help early in the week. Steve said he would be there as soon as he could but they were badly backlogged. At 11:00 AM THAT DAY…. the SavATree truck pulled into my driveway. I was slack-jawed in disbelief. There are three routes to get to our house . Two were completely blocked with downed trees and power lines and the third was an obstacle course ( to put it mildly)…but they got through. Inside of an hour and a half the Lexus was freed up, badly dented but driveable and the trunk of the oak tree had been cut up into roll-away sections. Both vehcles were free. Steve and the crew came back a week or so later to address the greenhouse matter, remove many “hanging chads” and shape some badly disfigured trees. They did a GREAT job and have our thanks and admiration.”
