Tree Service Company SavATree Lends a Helping Hand to Bergen County Zoo

May 24, 2010 — Senior managers from SavATree took part in a community service project on Tuesday, May 18 in the Bergen County Zoo in Paramus, NJ. SavATree’s staff donated their time and provided maintenance and developmental pruning around animal habitats and throughout the zoo.

Maintaining shade areas is critical to the health of animals kept in captivity, and trees are often the only way to replicate a similar environment to what the animals would experience in their natural surroundings. The pruning done by SavATree will also help to maintain the beauty of the zoo while maximizing safety for these animals as well as zoo patrons.

Paul Carbone, NJ District Sales Manager and Certified Arborist, with SavATree said, “This is SavATree’s way of giving back to the community. I picked the zoo because, as an animal lover, I thought it would be a lot of fun.” Paul added, “The zoo and park are special to area residents so it’s very exciting for us to have the opportunity to make a contribution to such a worthy cause.”

“The Bergen County Parks team was very appreciative of our efforts. Their budget is limited, so this donation of labor was a big help,”  said Luann O’Brien, VP of Sales and Marketing with SavATree.

The zoo will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. SavATree’s efforts as well as the efforts of the many other volunteers and zoo staff will help to get the zoo into top condition for the festivities.
